About The Mustard Seed Studios Journey
Meet the Founder!
Hi, I'm Ashlee — and I'm so glad you're here.
This journey I'm on? It's nothing short of a miracle. I wear a lot of hats these days — photographer, podcast host, recovery advocate, wife, mom of two amazing children, and fur mama to two pups. But before anything else, I’m a follower of Jesus. He set me free from drug addiction a little over 9 years ago, and every part of my life today is a reflection of His grace.
For over 7 years, I’ve worked in the addiction and mental health field, with the last few dedicated to connecting and supporting the faith community. But even in work that is meaningful, the weight of it all can build. Not long ago, I found myself struggling with compassion fatigue. I prayed and asked God to help me see people the way He sees them — with love, grace, and hope.
Around that same time, I had picked up a camera again. I originally fell in love with photography before addiction took everything from me, including all of my gear. But now, with fresh eyes and a heart open to God’s direction, stepping behind the lens again felt like coming home. God answered my prayer in the most beautiful way — by helping me see people, stories, and moments through a different lens, both literally and spiritually.
I started capturing photos of families reunited through recovery, and documenting the stories of those touched by addiction and mental health — from the individual struggling, to the families, first responders, and the faith leaders on the frontlines. Photography has become a way for me to serve, to listen, to see, and to share.
And now, with the help of my amazing husband of nearly 22 years, we’re creating something special — The Mustard Seed Studios. A space designed not just for me, but for other creatives to bring their stories to life. I chose the name because it reminds me that with even the smallest seed of faith, God can do big and mighty things.
